Native American women are three times more likely to be murdered than anyone else in the United States. A large number of these murders go unreported because authorities only investigate cases that involve white individuals. The violence against Native Americans isn’t just happening on reservations either; it’s also happening off-reservation in cities like Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada, where there is a higher percentage of Native Americans (compared to other areas) living there. These types of crimes often go unnoticed because they don’t have racial overtones or appear sensationalized by national media outlets that only care about reporting stories related to black people and crime.

Missing indigenous women in the United States

The number of  indigenous women missing  in the United States is staggering. It’s more than 4,000, according to the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), and no one knows exactly how many more went missing before they were reported to authorities.

The media had largely ignored this issue for years, although CNN had covered it sporadically, especially during the past years when public awareness around #MeToo and #TimesUp grew exponentially across social media platforms. As you might expect, there are no federal laws that protect Native Americans from violence against them by non-natives – despite how prevalent this problem has been throughout our country’s history!

How did we get here?

The history of the United States and the treatment of Native Americans is a complicated one. It’s worth noting that before Europeans arrived in North America, tribes were already living on the land when they arrived. This means that they had been there longer than any other group who would come after them—and yet their presence was treated as if it didn’t even matter by settlers.

The Government does not care about murdered and missing Native American Women

The government is supposed to protect its citizens, but it doesn’t do anything when a Native woman is killed or goes missing in this country. The government has been known as one of the biggest culprits when it comes to these tragic events happening on their watch, but they don’t seem to care enough about them anymore because they know there’s no way for them to solve their crimes without getting caught themselves!

Conclusion

The United States has not adequately addressed the issue of murdered and missing indigenous women. We need to do better, and we all have a responsibility to help make sure this doesn’t happen again.
